Detailed Solution

A tax levied by the church comprising one-tenth of the agricultural produce was called Tithe.
The French preserved the society of the estates, which was a part of the feudal order. According to the organised estate system's categorisation, peasants comprise around 90% of the population. The majority of the land, 60%, belonged to the nobility and the church. Thus the higher-class third estate members had a small portion of land. Members of the two estates who received unique privileges in society from birth were nobles and clergy. They were often excluded from paying state taxes. These two estate classes enjoyed the benefits of certain privileges, such as peasant feudal dues. The peasants were required to pay the first two estates for their labour and services.
