Detailed Solution

The word Maasai means' My People'.
The Maasai are one of the several pastoral communities inhabiting Africa. Their name 'Maasai' derives from the word 'Maa', which refers to the language spoken by people in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania, and the word Maasai means' My People'. For nomadic and pastoral people, milk and meat provided subsistence. But with changing scenarios, they now also depend on foods such as maize meal, rice, potatoes and cabbage, which were traditionally frowned upon. The reason for this was their belief that tilling the land for the production of crops is a crime against nature and that crop cultivation renders the land unsuitable for grazing.
