The TMS is a federation of fishermen's cooperatives.
The banning of fishermen from exercising their livelihood rights near the Tawa reservoir caused the fishermen's community to come up with a federation in 1994. This federation was named Tawa Matsya Sangh. The Tawa Matsya Sangh is a federation of fishermen. The federation organized protests and rallies to demand their right to livelihood. They finally succeeded in their objective. The Tawa Matsya Sangh works to strengthen the fishermen's community and raise their earnings. They do this by buying the fish caught by the fishermen and selling those in the market at a reasonable rate.
