Detailed Solution

The Treaty of Constantinople of 1832 recognised Greece as an independent nation.
Greece's fight for independence was one event that sparked nationalist sentiments among Europe's educated elite. Since the fifteenth century, Greece had been a province of the Ottoman Empire. The Greek independence war started in 1821 as a result of the rise of revolutionary nationalism in Europe. Greek nationalists received support from their fellow countrymen as well as from numerous West European regions. Poets and painters celebrated Greece as the birthplace of European civilisation and rallied the populace to fight for independence from a Muslim dominion. The Treaty of Constantinople, signed in 1832, officially recognised Greece's independence.
