The Treaty of Constantinople was signed in 1832.
Approving the terms of the Constantinople Agreement relating to the border between Greece and the Ottoman Empire marked the end of the Greek War of Independence, which established modern Greece as an independent state freed from the Ottoman Empire. The Constantinople Treaty of 1832 recognized Greece as an independent state. Nationalist and liberal sentiment grew in different parts of Europe, leading to rebellions against rigorous and dictatorial forces. Peace in Constantinople was the result of the Constantinople Conference in February 1832. Great powers (England, France,  Russia) on the one hand and the Ottoman Empire on the other. Greece was referred to in this agreement as a sovereign nation.
