The Treaty of Vienna was signed in the year 1815. Representatives from the European monarchies — Russia, Austria, Britain, and Prussia – who had defeated Napoleon collectively convened in Vienna in 1815 to draft a settlement for Europe. The Austrian Chancellor, Duke Metternich, convened the Congress. The Vienna Treaty (1815)was drafted to erase most of the changes that took place in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. The Treaty restored the monarchical systems in Europe that Napoleon overthrew. It restored the Bourbon dynasty in France. Border states were set up around France to prevent any French expansion. The Treaty also dictated to take away all the territories that Napoleon annexed.
