“The trophic levels in a food chain are limited from three to four”.Give a reason to justify this statement.

The food chain is a simple representation of natural energy flow. Because the energy available to each level is only 10 % of the lower level's energy, there isn't much energy left after the third consumer. Since the amount of available energy becomes as we move to higher tropic levels, very little usable energy remains after four trophic levels. Hence the food chain has only 3 to 4 tropical levels.
