The two island groups of India are the Lakshadweep Islands in the Arabian Sea and the Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal. The Lakshadweep islands are coral islands in the Arabian Sea west of Kerala's coast.   It spans around 32 square kilometres and has 36 islands in total. The capital of the Union Territory of India's Lakshadweep Islands is Kavaratti. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are located in the Bay of Bengal. They are the elevated sections of the mountain chain visible above the sea. These islands have an area of 8300 square kilometres. The primary city of this island group, Port Blair, is the largest city and capital of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
