The two major cities under the control of the Chahamanas were Delhi and Ajmer.
The Chahamanas is also known as the Chauhans. Simharaja founded the Chahamanas dynasty. The famous ruler of the Chahamana dynasty was Prithviraj III ( 1162-1192). He defeated the Afghan ruler named Sultan Muhammad Ghori in 1191. But he gets defeated by Muhammad Ghori the next year in 1192. They ruled over the region of Delhi and Ajmer. The Chahamanas tried to expand their territories to the west and east. But it was unsuccessful as they were opposed by the Chalukyas of Gujarat and the Gahadavalas of western Uttar Pradesh.
