Detailed Solution

The two muslims communities were Shia and Sunni. Much like Hinduism, Islam is also interpreted in various ways by its adherents, much like Hinduism. There are two Muslim communities: Shia and Sunni. Sunni Muslims recognised the legitimacy of the community's early leaders (Khalifas) and the succeeding Khalifas. At the same time, Shia Muslims held Ali, the Prophet Muhammad's son-in-law, to be the rightful leader of the Muslim community. Other significant differences existed among the various schools of law (primarily Hanafi and Shafi'i in India) and in theology and mystic traditions.
