Detailed Solution

DNA is a double helix in which the two strands of DNA are held by the hydrogen bonds between the bases on the two strands. Thymine (T) pairs with adenine through two hydrogen
bonds and cytosine (c) pairs with guanine (G) through three hydrogen bonds. So opposite
each adenine
(A) on one strand there is always a Thymine (T) on the other strand and opposite guanine, there is cytosine (C). This means that the two strands of DNA are complementary to each
other.
