Acidic oxides are formed when non-metals combine with oxygen.
When non-metals get oxidised, they form acidic oxides. For example, Sulphur is a non-metal and when it reacts with oxygen in the air it forms SO2. SO2 is an acidic oxide. Likewise, carbon reacts with oxygen or gets oxidised to form acidic oxide called carbon dioxide (CO2).
