The depth of the sea will be 3000 m.
The time taken by the ultrasonic sound wave will be half as it travels to the sea-bed and back to the ship.
Hence the time taken = 42                               = 2 seconds
As we know,
distance=speed × time  
Here the speed of sound in water = 1500 m/ On putting the values in equation (1) we have,
      distance=1500 × 2
      Total distance =1500 × 2
      Total distance =3000 meters.
So, the total distance travelled by the wave will be equal to the depth of the sea.
