Detailed Solution

Concept- The valence of Silicon and Krypton is 4 and 0 respectively. Valency is the number of electrons it requires to achieve a stable octet configuration. If the last shell contains more than 4, it accepts electrons, otherwise it loses electrons for stability.
Now, valency can be calculated from electronic configurations.
For Silicon (Si), with atomic number 14, the electronic configuration is 2, 8, 4. Thus, Si loses or accepts 4 electrons to attain stability. Therefore, its valency is 4.
Now, Kr is an inert gas with atomic number 36. Since inert gases have complete octet configuration their valency is always zero.
Hence, the answers are 4 and 0 respectively.
