The value of g on the surface of moon is less than that on the earth.
The value of g on the moon is = 1.625 m/sec2. We know that acceleration due to gravity on any planet is given by the formula,
     g= GMR2
Where, G is the universal gravitational constant, M is the mass of the planet, R is the radius of the planet.
The mass of the moon 1/80th of the earth’s mass, and its radius is also 2/7th of the earth’s radius. As mass makes more difference in the case of the moon, that’s why the value of g on the surface of the moon is less than that on the earth.
