Detailed Solution

Concept: Acetyl-CoA is produced by the process of glycolysis that takes place in the mitochondrial matrix. When this Acetyl CoA enters the Kreb cycle, it is subjected to oxidation and generates energy.
The pyruvate dehydrogenase complex is an enzyme complex that aids in the conversion of pyruvate into acetyl-CoA (acetyl coenzyme A). Pyruvate is either oxidised or decarboxylated during this process. This process, also known as the link reaction, is what joins the Krebs cycle to glycolysis. A 6C molecule of glucose is divided into two 3C pyruvate molecules during a glycolytic process. As a result, the link reaction takes place twice more than once to create 2 molecules of acetyl CoA. The Krebs cycle then receives this acetyl CoA. Acetyl coenzyme A is involved in a number of metabolic processes that take place in proteins.
Hence, option 3 is the correct answer.
