Detailed Solution

The Viceroy who was responsible for partitioning Bengal was Lord Curzon.
The decision to separate the eastern parts of Bengal from the rest of Bengal was known as the Partition of Bengal. The Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon, announced the partition on July 20, 1905, and it went into effect on October 16, 1905. People all over India were enraged by the partition of Bengal. The reason given for the decision was that Bengal, with a population of 78 million, had grown too large to administer, which was true to some extent, but the true motivations behind the partition plan were the British desire to weaken Bengal, the nerve centre of Indian nationalism, and divide Muslims and Hindus on religious grounds.
