Detailed Solution

The Vishwakarma community was also referred to as the Panchalas.
The Vishwakarma community, or the Panchalas, consisted of masons and carpenters, bronze smiths, goldsmiths, and blacksmiths who were essential to temple construction. They also played an integral role in constructing tanks, palaces, and reservoirs. Craftspersons were essential for constructing and maintaining temples as the kings could not build and maintain these beautiful structures. The artisans had to carve stones and also perform gold and inlay work. Bidar craftspersons were famous for their inlay work in silver and copper which came to be called Bidri. Similarly, weavers, including the Kaikkolars or Saliyar, became prosperous communities who donated significantly to the temples. During this time, cotton cleaning, dyeing, and spinning became independent crafts.
