Detailed Solution

The weavers that dominated textile production in India till the 18th century comprised mostly men. The spinning process was done by women. However, when the  British imports acquired the Indian markets and ousted Indian textiles from the European markets, the weavers were rendered jobless. Many agriculturists and poor peasants also experienced joblessness. The cotton mills were set up in the 19th century across many regions in India. They were mainly employed in the weaving departments of the mills which refers to the production of textiles from the thread.
