Detailed Solution

The weight loss of a body is maximum when it is completely immersed in a liquid.
By Archimedes' principle, the weight of the immersed body equals the weight of the displaced water. The weight of the liquid displaced by the immersed portion of the solid acting vertically up at its centre of buoyancy equals the weight of the solid acting vertically down at its centre of gravity for a solid floating in a liquid. As a result, when an object is floating, its apparent weight and solid's density are both zero, and it is therefore referred to as being weightless.
