Detailed Solution

The weight of an object on the moon is 16 times its weight on the earth.
An object's weight is significantly lower on the moon than it is on Earth. Simply put, weight is the downward force of the gravitational pull the planet applies on a body. The product of mass (m) and the gravitational acceleration (g) gives the weight (W). Mathematically put, W=m×g. Since g depends on mass of planet (M), its radius (R) and the gravitational constant (G) which is universal, it is mathematically represented as g=GMR2. The mass and radius of the moon are both less than that of Earth. Therefore, the gmoon is 16 times the gEarth. So the weight of any object on the mass will be 16 times that on the earth.
