Detailed Solution

The wind blowing in the northern plains in summer is known as Loo. Loo is a strong, scorching, and dry summer afternoon wind from the west that blows over North India and Pakistan's western Indo-Gangetic Plain. It is particularly strong in May and June. Exposure to it may cause heat stroke due to its extremely high temperatures. The Loo has a severe drying effect on vegetation because of its exceptionally low humidity and high temperatures, causing widespread browning in the areas it affects throughout May and June.
