The Yamuna, Ghagra, and Kosi are important tributaries of the Ganga. Tributaries are small streams that join the bigger river, and Ganga has ten tributaries and distributaries. The Kosi and Ghagra are the important left-bank rivers that finally discharge themselves into the Bay of Bengal. The oldest and westernmost tributary of Ganga is the Yamuna, which joins Ganga at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
