Detailed Solution

There are three lists in the seventh schedule of the Constitution of India.
1)      Union list: The Union or Central list contains those subjects upon which the central government has the authority to make laws. These include subjects like defence, war and peace, etc.
2)      State list: The State list contains subjects which come under the jurisdiction of the State or Provincial governments. These include subjects like law and order, police etc.
3)      Concurrent list: The Concurrent list contains matter of common interest. Both the state and central governments can make laws. In case of conflict, union law prevails over state law.
