There are 40 passengers in a bus, some with Rs.3 tickets and remaining with Rs.10 tickets. The total collection from these passengers is Rs.295, and then the number of passengers having tickets worth Rs.3 is 15.
Suppose x is the no. of

= 10 y

Also, there are 40 travelers in transport.

The total collection from these travelers is rupees 295.

3 x + 10 y = 295

……(2) We can say that,

40 − y

Substituting the value for x in 2.

3 (40 − y) + 10 y = 295 120 y − 3 y + 10 y = 295 120 y + 7 y = 295 7 y = 295 − 120 7 y = 175 y = 1757 y = 25

The first equation is x+y=40.
Putting the value of y in (1) to find the value of x.

x + 25 = 40 x = 40 − 25 x = 15

Thus, it is concluded that the number of passengers who bought Rs.
