Given the fraction of boys is

58

. --------------(1)
So the fraction of girls

= 1 − 58

= 8 − 5 8

= 38

And given that the number of girls

= 240

----------------(3)
Now determining the total number of students,
Number of girls =total students

× 38

.
Total students = Number of girls

÷ 38

. ----------------(4)
Total students

= 240 ÷ 38

So the total students,

= 2401 × 83

= 801 × 81

= 640

Now determining the number of boys.
Number of boys in school = Total students – number of girls
=640-240
