Detailed Solution

There are two types of Federalism: Holding together Federalism and Coming together Federalism.
1) Holding together Federalism - Federalism is when a powerful country decides to divide its power between constituent states and the central government, where all the constituent states have equal powers. Also, there is the absence of pooling sovereignty and retaining identity. However, in this federation, the central government subordinates the constituent units.
2) Coming together with Federalism - Here, independent states gather on their own to build a bigger unit. It's a kind of federation where the central government seems to be more powerful than the states. In this federation, units try to increase their security with the help of pooling sovereignty and retaining identity.
