Detailed Solution

There is a law on minimum wages to ensure that workers are not underpaid.
The chief objective of the Minimum Wages Act is to ensure that every worker is paid the minimum amount of wages prescribed for the particular job. This, in turn, reduces the chances of workers getting exploited at the hands of their employers. As per the Act, the government has to take steps to fix the minimum wage rates and revise the same at an interval of every five years. The Minimum Wages Act of 1948 was one of India's first laws concerning labourers' working rights. Its fundamental objective is to prevent sweated labour as well as the exploitation of unorganised labour.
