Detailed Solution

There were 29 mansabdars during Akbar’s reign with a rank of 5,000 zat. The salary and rank of administrative officials were determined by a number called zat. A noble enjoyed greater status in the court and received a larger income, the higher the zat. As a result, nobles with zats of 5,000 or more were superior to those with zats of just 1,000. 29 mansabdars held the rank of 5,000 zat during the reign of Akbar. There were 79 mansabdars with a rank of 5,000 zat or above by the time Aurangzeb assumed the throne. The rise in the proportion of mansabdars with higher zat indicates that the state's or the monarchy's treasury's expenditure rates were high.
