Detailed Solution

There were 3 stages of the Non-Cooperation Movement.
In 1920, Congress launched the Non-cooperation movement. Gandhi initiated the non-cooperation behaviour in response to the Rowlatt Act, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and the Montague borough council reforms. Three stages of movement have been observed.
First Stage: In protest, Indians who had received titles and honours from the British rejected them.
Second Stage: Massive protests, including hartals, did take place. All government systems were blocked, including schools, colleges, offices, and legislatures. Important leaders have been taken into custody and put in prison.
The third and most important stage: The movement was the nonpayment of taxes. The Congress conference in Ahmedabad in 1921 urged people not to pay corporation tax until their needs were satisfied. The non-cooperation movement was in high gear.
