Detailed Solution

China and India were among the world's richest countries until the eighteenth century.
The local region favoured the Indian subcontinent, making it an essential point in trading networks. In addition, the Indian Ocean provided convenient transportation for traders. India and China traded spices, silk, pottery, and minerals with other countries. However, factories were not established in India but supplied materials to countries such as England.
