Those materials through which we cannot see clearly are called translucent materials.
Translucent objects permit light to pass through them. Translucent materials include frosted glass and some plastics. When light strikes translucent materials, only a portion of it passes through. The light does not pass through the materials directly. They allow light to pass through them partially and that is why we can see through them partially. For example – muslin cloth, and paper stained with oil.
