It is given that three cards of spades are lost from a pack of

playing cards. The remaining cards were well shuffled and then a card was drawn at random from them.
We have to find the probability that the drawn cards is of black colour.
The probability of the random experiment E is,

P E = Number of favourable outcomes n E Total number of outcomes n S

Since three cards of spades are lost from a pack from a deck of

playing cards, so, the remaining cards in a deck are,

n S = 52 − 3 ⇒ n S = 49

The black cards include

spades and

clubs. Thus, after removing spades from black colour cards,

n E = 4 − 1 ⇒ n E = 3

So, the probability of getting black card is
