Detailed Solution

Let ‘x’ be the large water bottle and  ‘y’ be the small water bottle.
Now;
3x + 5y = 17   …(i)
2x + y = 9   …(ii)
Now from equation (i)
5y = 17 – 3x
y =
putting the value of y in equation (ii)
10x + 17 – 3x = 45 7x = 45 – 17
x = 4
one large water bottle will hold 4 liters of water.
