Threshing is used to separate grains from stalks.
The method which is used to separate the seeds of paddy from its stalks is known as threshing. The stalks of paddy are beaten in order to free the grain seeds. The stalks are first dried in the sun and made into bundles before beating to separate the grains. Bullocks are also sometimes used for this process. Machines called threshers can also be used to thresh large quantities of grain.
