Tidal energy, wave energy and ocean thermal energy are three different forms of energy in the ocean which can be converted into usable energy forms.
Tidal energy: The rise of ocean water due to the attraction of the moon produces a tide in the ocean. When the level of water is high, sea water flows into the reservoir and turns the turbine and during the low tide, the stored water in the barrage is allowed to flow out into the sea. This water turns the turbine and generates electricity.
Wave energy: The ocean waves provide vibrational motion to the floating objects. This motion is converted into rotational motion of the shaft of the generator which then produces electricity.
Ocean thermal energy: The water from the warm surface is used to boil chlorofluorocarbon. The vapors of liquid are then used to drive the turbines of the generator. The cold water from the ocean is used to convert these vapors again into a liquid.
