Tischenko reaction is a modification of cannizzaro reaction. All aldehydes can be made to undergo the cannizzaro reaction by treatment with aluminium ethoxide. Under these conditions the acid and alcohol are combined to give as ester. This reaction is known as Tischenko reaction. For example
