TISCO was set up in the year 1912. It stands for Tata Iron and Steel Company, which Jamsetji Tata founded in 1907. This iron and steel facility is located in Singhbhum, Jharkhand, where the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers converge. It is the largest iron and steel mill that is privately owned. The Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited was incorporated in Bombay on August 26, 1907. The construction of the steel plant was seriously considered, with the first risk taken in February 1908. An American with prior experience in the construction of steel factories was appointed general manager in 1909. As a result, the first blast furnace was blown in on December 2, 1911, a notable feat.
