The effect in which a person can see nearby objects clearly but cannot see distant objects clearly is called myopia. This defect is also called near-sightedness or short-sightedness. In myopia, the far point of the myopic eye decreases and becomes nearer than infinity. A lens of appropriate power is employed to correct this defect.
