On December 15th, 1952, Potti Sriramulu passed away after fasting for more than 50 days. The newly created state of Andhra was established on October 1st, 1953. Later, on November 1st, 1956, Andhra state was merged with the Hyderabad state to form Andhra Pradesh, with Hyderabad as the capital.
