Antyodaya Anna Yojana is considered one of the government's most important schemes.
The Antyodaya Anna Yojana, which aimed to focus on people living below the poverty line, was launched in December 2000. Over 1 crore low-income families from BPL were covered under this scheme. A high subsidized rate on food grains was made available, which included wheat for as low as 2 rupees per kg and rice for as low as 3 rupees per kg to all eligible families. Over time, this scheme has expanded twice, resulting in the major recognition of 2 crore families under this scheme.
