Newton’s third law of motion statement is “For every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction”. Action and reaction always act on different bodies. Let us consider an example of the operation of a gun. When a gun is fired, the bullet goes out with great force due to the force applied on its  trigger (Action). At the same time, the bullet exerts an equal and opposite force on the gun, so the gun recoils and gives a backward jerk to the shoulder of the person who shoots it.
