Detailed Solution

Total length of cloth = 40 m = 4000 cm  (1m = 100 cm)

Cloth required for stitching a shirt = 2m 15 cm = 215 cm

No. of shirts that can be stitched will be =  4000215 = 18

We get 130 as the remainder and 18 as the quotient.

No. of cloth remaining = 130 cm and No. of shirts that can be stitched = 18

Hence, 18 shirts can be stitched from a cloth of length 40 m  and 1m 30 cm of cloth will remain.
