India has 25 High Courts in total.
The High Court is the state's highest court. Article 214 mandates the establishment of a High Court in each Indian state. A joint High Court for two or more states, or two or more states and a union territory, is allowed, as per Article 231. Numerous states or union territories are within the jurisdiction of six of India's 25 high courts. Each High Court is composed of a Chief Justice and any additional justices that the President of India may choose.
