Detailed Solution

Tubewells are the primary source of irrigation at Palampur. Palampur is a village with about 274 hectares of land under cultivation. Out of this, 200 hectares of land are irrigated. This irrigation is done mainly from the tubewells. Agriculture is the main activity in the village. To increase production, farmers started using the irrigation system as tubewells. But the prominent use of tubewells has reduced and endangered the groundwater level. The irregular rainy season has also increased farmers' dependency on tube wells, making them the primary source of irrigation.
