Determine the ratio of the lengths AO and OB for which the tensions in the threads will be the same. Disregard the weight of the threads.

If l1 and l2 are the lengths of the parts OB and AO respectively, then for same tension in both the threads we can write

        T=mω2l1               ---(i) and  T=Mω2l2              ---(ii) l1l2=Mm or l1l2=93=3 also l1+l2=1

From equations, we get

l1=0.75 m and l2=0.25 m
