Given that 2 chairs and 3 tables = Rs. 5650
3 chairs and 2 tables = Rs. 7100
Let the cost of the chair and table be x and y, then.

2 x + 3 y = 5650 − − − (1) 3 x + 2 y = 7100 − − − (2)

Multiply 3 in eq.(1) and 2 in eq.(2):

6 x + 9 y = 16950 − − − (3) 6 x + 4 y = 14200 − − − (4)

Subtract eq.(3) and eq.(4);

5 y = 2750 ⇒ y = 550 A n d, x = 2000

Therefore, the cost of chair = Rs.2000 and cost of table = Rs.550
Hence, option (3) is correct.
