Detailed Solution

For image formed by the surface on the right side

μ1=1,μ2=1.5,u=R2,R1=R, μ2vμ1u=μ2μ1R, 1.5v+2R=1.51R v=3R5

The image is at a distance (R3R5)=0.4R from the centre P towards the righthand side. For the surface on the left hand side u=3R2,R2=R,μ1=1,μ2=1.5 So, 1.5v+23R=1.51R or v=9R7

The image is at a distance of (9R7R)=2R7 from the centre P towards the right hand side.

∴ The distance between the two images is =0.4R2R7=0.114R

Therefore option (c) is correct.
