Let the side of each cube be 'a' cm.

∴ a3 = 27

⇒ a = 3 cm

We know when two cubes are joined end to end a cuboid is formed.

Question Image

Therefore, the length of the cuboid (l) = 2a = 6 cm

Width of the cuboid (b) = 3 cm

Height of the cuboid (h) = 3 cm

Therefore, the surface area of the cuboid = 2(lb + bh + hl)

= 2(6×3 + 3×3 + 3×6)

= 2(18 + 9 + 18)

= 2(45)

= 90 cm2
