Detailed Solution

The probability that both will visit the shop on different days is 0.8.
It is given two customers Shyam and Ekta are visiting a particular shop in the same week.
The probability of an event E is given as-
P(E)= Number of outcomes favourable to E Number of all possible outcomes of the experiment
Given, Shyam and Ekta are visiting a particular shop in the same week from Tuesday to Saturday and each is equally likely to visit the shop on any day as on another day, i.e,
Possible outcomes=(T,T) (T,W) (T, Th) (T,F) (T,S)
(W,T) (W,W) (W, Th) (W,F) (W,S)
(Th,T) (Th,W) (Th,Th) (Th,F) (Th,S)
(F,T) (F,W) (F,Th) (F,F) (F,S)
(S,T) (S,W) (S,Th) (S,F) (S,S)
where, T=Tuesday, W=Wednesday, Th=Thursday, F=Friday, S=Saturday
Therefore, total possible outcomes = 25
The favorable cases for which both will visit the shop on the same day:
(T,T) (W,W) (Th,Th) (F,F) (S,S)
So, Number of favorable cases=5
Therefore, the probability that both will visit the shop on same days is- P(going to shop on same days) = 5 25 =0.2
Now, the probability that both will visit the shop on different days is-
P(going to shop on different days)=1-P(going to shop on same days)=1-0.2=0.8
Therefore, 0.8 is the required probability that both Shyam and Ekta will visit the shop on different days.
Hence option (2) is correct.
